What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is still a relatively new profession and as such it is not widely understood. Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals who have completed a four year degree in Human Movement Studies or Exercise Science. We are specialists in developing and delivering exercise interventions for the management and prevention of chronic disease and injuries. These interventions use evidence based methods to encourage and support lifestyle and behaviour modification that is sustainable and not simply a quick fix.

Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the Peak Body representing Exercise Physiologists. All Accredited Exercise Physiologists must meet stringent accreditation and re-accreditation standards set by ESSA. Therefore you can be assured that when you use the services offered by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist you are getting access to a quality service.

Your Health Exercise Physiology is a registered Medicare provider. Medicare rebates for individuals with chronic conditions are available under a GP management plan / team care arrangement (previously called an Enhanced Primary Care Plan). In order to claim a medicare rebate on you session you will require a referral from your general practitioner. These plans allow up to 5 subsidised visits to allied health professionals per calender year.

Further information regarding chronic disease management plans may be found here.

Your Health Exercise Physiology bulk bills all Medicare referrals so that there is no out of pocket expense with a valid referral.

DVA Health Cards (Gold and White) are accepted as payment upon a GP referral.

Please note that a referral for exercise physiology services through DVA must indicate the specific condition to be treated.
